Purpose of Position:
Supervise, coordinate, and coach employees engaged in production of WIP components or finished good product for the Life Sciences businesses at the plant. Responsibilities include shift performance towards production objectives and personnel adherence to facility procedures, policies, and documentation
Key
Responsibilities:
Directly supervise all shift personnel responsible for the manufacturing of products related to the Life Sciences businesses to ensure that daily production quantity and quality standards are met
On a daily basis ensure that employees provide a concise and accurate documentation and communication of variances in process, procedures or production priority, along with corrective action taken
Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and quality requirements
Counsel direct reports by providing formal and informal performance feedback
Maintain and enforce all safety regulations and housekeeping standards on a consistent basis
Recommend improvements to process and/or equipment that enhance the manufacturing performance of the department
Initiate and/or suggest opportunities to enhance the Facilitys compliance to the principles of a High Performance System.
Initiate and/or suggest opportunities to develop employees team skills
Interpret and enforce Facility and company policies and procedures on a consistent basis
Maintain the systems and actions necessary to ensure compliance with the plant quality system and ISO registration
Report machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel
Maintain ATA (Time and Attendance) and production records
Resolve work related or personal issues expediently as possible
Ensure cooperation with Engineering in the implementation and evaluation of development experiments
Train and develop employees on a regular basis.
Attend all company meeting including but not limited to communications meetings, etc.
Contribute to companys identified goals and objectives
Provide work center start up and shutdown coordination
As shift personnel develop, transfer responsibility, authority, and accountability as appropriate
Support new product implementations as required
Manage special projects as assigned by the Manufacturing Department Head/Manager
Implement corrective action related to process variations, equipment malfunctions, or operations endangering the safety of personnel or facility
Evaluate and take corrective action with regard to employee skill levels
Assist employees in setting daily production priorities
Provide solutions to meet the daily personal and work related disciplinary problems of directly supervised employees
Evaluate shift team and individual performance and delegate responsibility, authority, and accountability accordingly

Direct Reports and Titles: Machine Operators, Material Handlers, Molding Technicians
Required Education and Skill:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent technical experience or equivalent experience (exceptional case)
1 year previous supervisory experience
Experience working on technical problems or teams with technicians
Superior customer service and people skills
Ability to train, coach, and direct others
Outstanding attention to detail
Ability to work varied hours, shifts, and days
Desired Education and Skill:
Bachelor of Science (Engineering or technical)
2-4 years of engineering experience in a related field
1-3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
Basic problem solving skills (e.g. Lean, KT)
