The Payroll Examiner 2 maintains operations of the SUNY Oneonta payroll program and oversees staff in the area. Duties include but are not limited to:
performing the full range of payroll processing tasks and activities, develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to ensure the timely submission or accurate payroll documents, calculate and/or verify salary calculations and related factors, provide customer service to SUNY Oneonta employees & department managers, and complete special projects as needed.

performing the full range of payroll processing tasks and activities, develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures to ensure the timely submission or accurate payroll documents, calculate and/or verify salary calculations and related factors, provide customer service to SUNY Oneonta employees & department managers, and complete special projects as needed.
Salary Range:
From $54714 to $66278 Annually
Minimum Qualification
The successful candidate must be reachable on the full-time, permanent Civil Service list for Payroll Examiner 2, have held the permanent title of Payroll Examiner 2 in the past or be eligible to transfer into the title. Transfer-eligible titles include, but are not limited to:
Administrative Assistant 2, Library Clerk 3, Office Assistant 3 & Parentheticals, and Program Aide. OR If the eligible list contains fewer than 3 acceptors, a provisional appointment may be considered. A candidate who accepts a provisional appointment must be eligible to take the Payroll Examiner 2 exam, take the exam the next time it is offered, and be reachable on the subsequent eligible list. Qualifications:
Civil Service Attendance & Leave knowledge Basic knowledge of Bargaining Units Knowledge of or willingness to learn SUNY HR, SUNY Time & Attendance, and Payserv Excellent customer service skills Ability to maintain confidentialityEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
